  • DASCAS

Our Disability and Social Care Advice Service (DASCAS) team give Wandsworth residents independent advice about disability benefits and services for disabled people. DASCAS offer telephone advice, home visits and advice appointments to people with disabilities and the friends and relatives who care for them.

Guides to filling in benefit forms

Citizens Advice has guidance that explains how to answer each question on a disability benefits form:

    • Attendance Allowance (if your form is called ‘AA1: Attendance Allowance for people of State Pension age or over’)
    • Employment and Support Allowance or the Limited Capability for Work component of Universal Credit (if your form is called ‘Capability for Work questionnaire’)
    • Personal Independence Payment if your form is called ‘PIP2: How your disability affects you’).

Other organisations that can help with forms

Scope help disabled people by phone, email and online. You can call their free helpline on 0808 800 3333 (for textphone dial 18001 then 0808 800 3333).

For Child DLA forms you can speak to Contact, who specialise in supporting families with disabled children. They have family workers based in Battersea, Tooting and Roehampton that you can reach by phone or email.

For Attendance Allowance forms you can speak to the DWP helpline on 0800 731 0122 (textphone 0800 731 0317).

    Contact DASCAS

We normally have a webform that lets you contact DASCAS online. We’ve temporarily removed this as we don’t have capacity to respond to all of the enquiries we’re receiving.

If you’re a social worker you can contact Sarah Magowan at Wandsworth Council for information about how to refer to us while the webform isn’t available.

If you’re a member of the public you can still call our main service or check the info above for other organisations that may be able to help.

    Your personal information

When you contact us we may ask you for your personal information in order to help us advise you. We’ll ask you to confirm that you’re happy for us to collect and store your information and we won’t share it without your permission.

We follow the Citizens Advice privacy policy. Our information charter has more information about how we store, share and protect your personal information.

    Complaints and feedback

We have a complaints handling procedure, please let us know if you want us to send you a complaints leaflet.
